Deactivated British Webley MK VI .455 Fitz Snub Revolver in very good deactivated condition. This Webley has been modified after its service life, with a cut down trigger guard, barrel and grip, and fold down hammer spur. Matching numbers and 1916 dated, with British military stamps. Latest EU spec, so moving trigger and cylinder with clear chambers, but non working firing mechanism. John Henry Fitzgerald was a US gunsmith who made his name cutting down and modifying revolvers in the 1920’s and 30’s. He gave his name to this type of revolver – Fitz – and many gunsmiths copied his examples. These are also known as Shanghai Specials, especially when connected to Webley models. Another classic pistol in use with empire forces from the late nineteenth century until the end of WWII. They had an excellent reputation as man stoppers and could put down a charging native or German with one shot. The quality of manufacture was also very good and their simple mechanisms stood up well to the mud and abuse they received in the trenches of WWI. Many can still be found in use to this day, especially in Asia and Africa and they are still a formidable weapon to be on the receiving end of. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
