Deactivated Vickers Berthier LMG

.
Deactivated Very Rare Vickers Berthier Light Machine Gun in excellent, original condition. The Vickers Berthier was a direct competitor to the Bren Gun during the Army trails in the early 1930s. It was beaten by the Bren for adoption by British Forces, but still impressed the selection panel and was given the go ahead for adoption by the British Indian Army in 1933. It was slightly bigger and heavier than the Bren, but was much simpler to produce at the Ishapore factory in India, so was well suited to them. It was a reliable design that served Empire Forces very well in the Far East in WWII and was well liked by the troops supplied it. They are still in use4 with reserve elements of the Indian Army to this day, as the quality of manufacture and materials used were excellent. A very rare gun to find in any form, let alone deactivated. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
