Percussion pistols were used as self-defence weapons and as military arms. Their effective range was short, and they were frequently used alongside a sword or cutlass. The pistols could even be used as clubs themselves. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
