The Colt Pocket Navy revolver was first introduced in 1861 and remained in production until 1873. They were used by anyone who needed a sidearm for self-protection, which in the Wild West was most people. Legend has it that they were carried by officers during the Civil war to ward away battlefield surgeons who were trying to amputate limbs!
