Deactivated Italian 1970 Beretta Production BM-59 7.62 NATO Calibre Battle Rifle, based on the US Springfield M1 Garand post war. In excellent deactivated condition, with working cocking handle (under spring pressure), trigger, fire selector and removable magazine. Fold down winter trigger and fold up grenade sights and bipod. The M1 Garand was the first semi-automatic rifle to be issued to armed forces of any nation. Called "the greatest battle implement ever devised" by General George S. Patton, the Garand entered service in 1936 and was officially replaced by the M14 in 1957. However, the M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963 and was a reserve weapon until 1966. They are utterly reliable, very, very accurate and very powerful. A real rifleman’s rifle and still a valued rifle to this day by shooters all over the world. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
