Antique Japanese Hinawaju .32 Bore Matchlock with 32 ½ inch octagonal barre. In very good overall condition, with full working parts. The matchlock mechanism held a burning slow match in a clamp at the end of a small curved lever known as the serpentine. Upon the pull of a lever or trigger, protruding from the bottom of the gun and connected to the serpentine, the clamp dropped down, lowering the smouldering match into the flash pan, and therefore igniting the priming powder. It continued to be in common use for over two centuries. Antique, no licence required.
