Quick Overview

Tanto with good quality mount, the blade has a cutting edge of 11 1/2 inchs and is Hirazukuri shape with a Hamon (Temperline) of Suguha (Straight) edged with NIOI Crystols and some very fine scattered Nie also. (Crystals of Marten Site).

The Ji-Hada (Grain) looks white and is a mixture of large Masame wood grain. It is a very thin Hamon, don't think it has ever been much thicker. Difficult to pin down age but it is Mino work anytime from 1550s to 1650s period in good polish.Tang is typical Minowith square cut end and Kiri File marks + 2 Mekugi (peg) holes. Fuchi (bottom hiltmount) is signed Sada Tsugo with Koa (personal seal) working 1780s Ko-Gatana (Side Knife) blade is signed Idzumi no Kami Kane Shige 2 generations working 1640s to 1673. Good swordsmiths. Tsuba is Oval Iron with Daikon (Radish) embossed and some gold overlay possibly Nara School 1750s.
