Replica PIAT Anti-Tank Gun SN. RPA2 -
Replica British PIAT Anti-Tank Gun in very good condition. Steel replica. The PIAT entered service in 1942 and was in use until the end of the Korean War with Commonwealth forces. It utilised a spigot firing mechanism and a small charge in the base of the 2.5lb High Explosive Anti-Tank Projectile. It could penetrate about 3 inches of armour at 100 metres and could hit a house at about 300 metres. It had the advantage that there was no or very little smoke to give the firing position away and troops were trained to use surprise ambushes on the sides and rear of enemy armour to make the best use of the weapon. It could also be used a crude mortar to support infantry in an emergency. VCR Act applies.
