Replica FG42 Battle Rifle SN. 1182

Availability: Out of stock

£1,250.00

Quick Overview

Replica FG42 7.92mm Battle Rifle by Shoei in very good condition and in the original box and fully functioning. The build quality on this Shoei replica has to be seen to be believed. It puts all the other makes to shame and looks, functions and feels exactly like the real thing (Yes, we have played with a real one). The FG42 was introduced in 1942 and was intended almost exclusively for the Fallschirmjager, or German Paratroopers. Though some also went to Skorzeny’s elite commandos. The FG42 was intended to give the always outnumbered paras a distinct firepower advantage by combining both the standard rifle and machine gun into one weapon. It did this with ease during the invasion of Crete, where the Fallschirmjager pretty much kicked the crap out of us poor British! It was a revolutionary design that for its time was a quantum leap forward in both concept and design. The fact that it fired the full power 7.92 x 57mm issue round quite happily without blowing up was an achievement in itself. It was loved by the troops who used it, though they learnt that fully automatic fire was almost totally uncontrollable, even in short bursts. Its design and performance was studied after the war by both east and west and it had a great influence on post war assault rifle and machine gun development. An absolute must for the serious collector. VCR Act applies.
