Obsolete Calibre Smith and Wesson Number 3 .44 Russian Calibre Revolver, in very good, condition, with mother of pearl grips and strong action. The Smith and Wesson Number 3 Revolver first appeared in 1881, and was made until 1915. As well as equipping the Imperial Russian Army, a .45 calibre version by Major George W. Schofield of the US Cavalry improved on the original design. Smith and Wesson were so impressed that they began producing the model with his name on it. They were used by the US army until as late as the Spanish-American War and were also used by the like of Jesse James, Pat Garrett, Theodore Roosevelt, Wyatt Earp and Billy the Kid. They were very well made, powerful, accurate and much faster to load and unload than a Colt Peacemaker. A true classic. Obsolete Calibre Antique, no licence required.
