Obsolete Calibre Very Rare British Mont Storms Trails .577 Calibre Rifle in very good condition, with an excellent, very tight action and excellent bore. Only 50 of these trails rifles were manufactured. William Mont Storm was granted a U.S. patent for his self-sealing-chamber system in July 1856. His system employs a central bolt locking the breech from the rear on the fall of the hammer. He was granted various British patents and together with Charles Phelps oversaw British army trials of his system for which he was awarded a silver medal at the International Exhibition in 1862. The Mont Storm system was officially adopted by the British Government in 1865 for the conversion of all its military long arms. The Mont Storm Cartridge was made of animal intestine, bound with silk cord and fully combustible, leaving the chamber empty for the next round. Obsolete Calibre Antique, no licence required.
