Obsolete Calibre Burnside .54 Calibre Carbine in very good condition, with excellent bore and very stron action. In 1857, the Burnside carbine won a competition at West Point against 17 other carbine designs. With the outbreak of the Civil War, over 55,000 were ordered for use by Union cavalrymen. This made it the third most popular carbine used in the conflict. Only the Sharps and the Spencer carbine were more widely used. There were so many in service that many were captured and used by Confederates as well. They were in service until 1870 and 100,000 were made. They had an effective range of 200 metres and were well liked by the troops issued them. Obsolete Calibre, no licence required.
