F16 Pilot CSU-17/P COMBAT EDGE flight rig. This is the latest ensemble used by the US Air Force. Called “Combat Edge�? & made by Gentex it uses a combination of “Speed Jeans & Speed Vest “ with a pressure breathing system that postpones the onset of G LOC in high G manouvers. The system contains five major components : the Helmet , Oxygen mask , Pressure vest, Oxygen manifold & pressure jeans. Together these help the pilot function at up to 9 G positive. The helmet is Combat Edge HGU-55 which contains a pressurised bladder. This provides tensioning of the mask at the onset of high G manoeuvers. The helmet also has a light weight , close fitting shell & a wider frontal opening for better peripheral vision in combat. The Combat Edge oxygen mask MBU20/3 gives pressurised breathing that kicks in at a pre determined G load ( normally +4G). The parachute harness (MA/2 Torso Harness) retains it’s original fittings . Underneath is a Nomex flight suit & Nomex gloves. Also included are life Jacket , Survival jacket with torch etc, Leg restraints to connect to Ejection seat retractor , Leg board for maps & flight boots with bullet proof soles . This is probably the best ( if not the only ) F16 Combat Edge pilots rig , outside of the USA. For display use only . NOT FOR FLIGHT USE.
