.
Deactivated VZ-52 7.62mm General Purpose Machine Gun in very good deactivated condition and complete with 50 inert 7.62mm M43 rounds on a belt. There is no magazine with this example. Although of unusual appearance, the VZ-52 was a result of experience in WWII and was actually one the best of the post war GPMG designs. It was designed to utilise both a box magazine and belt feed without any modification to the weapon. Just take off the magazine, open the cover next to it, place a belt in the feed tray and close both covers and you are ready to go. The VZ-52 fires both semi automatic and full automatic at a rate of 950 rpm. The first versions fired the Czech 7.62 x 45 mm round, but this was replaced by the 7.62 x 43 M43 Soviet round in use by the rest of the Warsaw Pact nations in 1957 and almost all of the earlier guns were retro fitted to the new calibre. A very high quality weapon, which was not only reliable and accurate to ranges up to 1000 metres, but was also versatile, owing to its light weight and dual feed ability. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
