Deactivated 1944 Dated US Army Brandt 60mm M60A Airborne Mortar in good deactivated condition, with full working action. The Brandt 60mm Mortar first appeared in 1936 and was designed by a French engineer, called Brandt. It was adopted by US forces in 1940 and called the M2. It fired 3 types of 60mm shell, HE, WP and Flares. They had an effective range of 1200 meters and a skilled crew could fire 20 rounds a minute. They were popular with the troops issued them, as they were simple to use and maintain, reliable and light to carry around. They saw service with the US Army and Marine Corps through WWII, Korea and Vietnam and can still be found today in Latin America and the Third World. A highly effective Light Infantry Mortar.
