Deactivated Genuine Springfield Model 1873 .45-70 Calibre Rifle in very good, original condition. 1881 dated serial number and stock stamp, with correct Springfield markings throughout. This is NOT an Italian reproduction. The Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor was the first official standard-issue breech-loading rifle adopted by the US Army. The gun, in both full-length and carbine versions, was widely used in subsequent battles against the American Indians. They were also available for private sale, and the powerful .45-70 cartridge was used for hunting both four and two legged quarry well into the 20th century. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
