Deactivated S&W Model 4506 .45 ACP Pistol in excellent deactivated condition and complete with original box and manuals. The S&W Model 4506 first appeared in 1997 and is the third generation, full sized .45 ACP member of the Smith and Wesson auto family that began with the Model 39. The S&W 39 Pistol was introduced in 1955 and was the first double action American semi-auto pistol ever produced. They were developed for the US Army, who were so impressed by the Walther P38 during WWII, that they asked smith and Wesson to develop a pistol with similar features. The army dropped the programme, but they were put into production anyway. They were the first semi-auto to be adopted by a US Police Department and confirmed the semi-automatic pistol as a reliable option in the eyes of the American public. The whole range of these Smith and Wesson autos are known as reliable and accurate weapons, with certain versions being used by Navy SEALs, the FBI and various law enforcement agencies all over the world. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
