Deactivated US P17 .30-06 Calibre Rifle. Eddystone marked and in very good deactivated condition. The P17 Rifle was the 30-06 version of the P14 and more of these were issued to US troops than the Springfield service rifle in WWI. A bolt action weapon with an integral 5-round magazine, it was principally contract manufactured by companies in the United States, with Eddystone being the rarest. It served as the main weapon of the British Home Guard and as a second line and reserve issue weapon until being declared obsolete in 1947. They had a good reputation for being very accurate rifles out to 1500 metres and many are still shot as target rifles to this day. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
