Deactivated Old Spec Vickers K Machine Gun SN. 0138 “

Availability: In stock

Quick Overview

Non EU sales Only. Can be redeactivated to EU/ UK spec. Deactivated Very Rare Old Spec Vickers G.O No.2 Mk.1 Land Service .303 Machine Gun, or Vickers K, in excellent deactivated condition, with full working action. The Vickers K machine gun, known as the Vickers Gas Operated (Vickers G.O.) in British service, was a rapid-firing machine gun developed and manufactured for use in aircraft by Vickers-Armstrong. Originally intended for RAF airfield defence units, these guns were remanufactured from original Vickers G.O. No.1 Mk.1 aircraft guns. A number of these found their way to the Long Range Desert Group and the Special Air Service, who adopted them for their hit and run tactics, mounting it both singly and in pairs on their jeeps. Both the LRDG and SAS found the Vickers K markedly superior to either the Vickers HMG or the Bren gun. In a similar manner, the Airborne Reconnaissance Squadron of the Reconnaissance Corps mounted the VGO on jeeps when they were attached to the 1st Airborne Division during Operation Market-Garden in September 1944. A total WWII Special Forces Classic! All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly. Can be redeactivated to EU/ UK spec.
