The PPS-43 was designed in 1942 during the siege of Leningrad when the city was surrounded by Nazi forces. From drawing board to being put in the hands of the Soviet defenders took just two weeks! Remarkably, it stayed in Soviet, Warsaw Pact and Chinese production until 1968. PPS stands for ` Pistolyet Poolemyot Sudayeva’, or Sudayev's sub machine gun. They are enormously underrated, and are one of the most reliable SMG designs in the world, and work particularly well in very wet conditions. A sheet metal workers dream!
