In good deactivated condition and FXO code, Haenel code and 1941 date stamped. The MP40, or Schmeisser, as it is better known is one of those guns that everybody instantly recognises. They were a development of the earlier MP38 and served the Nazis and German armies throughout the war. They were a very well made, reliable weapon and were as good as any other design in use at the time. They were very popular with allied troops and were still being used by the SAS in the Gulf states well into the 1960s where their reliability in sandy conditions was appreciated.
