Deactivated Old Spec Very Rare German U-Boat and Zeppelin Model MG08 7.92mm Machine Gun in very good, original condition and DWM manufacture, with matching exterior numbers. This very rare example of an Imperial German Navy, or Kaiserliche Marine, MG08 has the Imperial crown over the letter M stamp and correct mounting brackets for the version of the MG08 used on U-Boats and Zeppelins. The MG08 was adopted in 1908 as the Standard German heavy machine gun for all branches of the military. It served on all fronts in WWI as the standard heavy machine gun and was still in use in bunkers and with secondary front line Nazi units until the end of WWII. It was an adaption of the Maxim design and despite appearances, it was not nearly as heavy as it looked and made a very good, reliable infantry weapon that was capable of accurate fire out to ranges of 2000m. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
