Issued to the 11th Company of the 170th Infantry Regiment and then captured by the 12th Yeomanry Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers Also, correct drum mag, belt, and sling. The MG08/15 was adopted in 1917 as the Standard German machine gun for all branches of the military. It was an adaption of the earlier MG08 and was lightened and made more user friendly, and was designed to be used by a four man crew. It served on all fronts in WWI and was still in use in bunkers, etc. until the end of WWII. It was an adaption of the Maxim design and despite appearances, it was not nearly as heavy as it looked and made a good, reliable infantry weapon that was capable of accurate fire out to ranges of 2000m. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly. Can be redeactivated to EU/ UK spec.
