.
Rare Deactivated Old Spec M1941 Johnson .30-06 Calibre Rifle in very good deactivated condition, with original sling. The Johnson Rifle was invented by Melvin Johnson just before WWII and was intended as the new service rifle of the US Armed Forces. Despite the fact that it had a larger magazine capacity and less felt recoil than the Garand, it was not adopted as the official rifle. They were ordered in small numbers for various special units of the US Army and Marine Corps, mostly Para Commando and recon units, and were famously the preferred issue rifle of the joint US - Canadian 1st Special Service Force which fought in Italy and France. Contrary to popular belief, they were a reliable battle rifle, but their weight and the non-traditional rotary magazine counted against them when the ordnance board were selecting a new weapon. Two facts that the men of the special units did not seem to mind. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
