Quick Overview

Deactivated Lee Speed .303 Military Model Rifle in very good, original deactivated condition, with Matching numbers receiver and bolt, BSA stamp, and volley sights. 1896 dated Lanarkshire Yeomanry Cavalry Butt Disc and British Broad Arrow marked. The Lanarkshire Yeomanry Cavalry served in the Second Boer War. The Lee Speed was introduced in 1895 and was the sporting version of the Lee Metford. Although supposedly a sporting weapon, large quantities were bought by British and Colonial officers, who appreciated the more luxurious fit and finish and many served in the Boer War were they gave a good account of themselves. Because so many were bought by officers, a military version was soon introduced and proved very popular, especially with regimental shooting teams. A rare rifle to find deactivated. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
