Deactivated MAT 49 SMG #

Availability: Out of stock

This item is no longer available and is for refence only

Quick Overview

Deactivated Rare Old Spec French MAT 49 9mm SMG in very good deactivated condition. The ejection port cover does not stay closed, but this is common with this design. The MAT 49 Sub Machine Gun entered service in 1949 and was produced until 1979. It finally left French service in the mid-1980s. It was unusual in that the magazine housing folded forward with a loaded magazine in place for stowage in cramped conditions. It is also unique in that the French issued two types of magazine with the weapon; the first was a single stack 20 rnd mag for desert warfare, and the second was a traditional double stack 32 rnd mag for conventional use. They were a compact, reliable design and were the issue SMG of over 20 nations, mostly ex French colonies. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
