Deactivated M79 Grenade Launcher SN. M79B -
Deactivated M79 40mm Grenade Launcher in good, original deactivated condition, with full working parts and strippable. The M79 first entered service with the US Army and Marines in 1961, although the British SAS were the first to use them in combat, in Borneo. Known as the `Bloop Gun’, because of the sound it makes when fired. It was immediately popular with the troops issued it, as it’s extremely simple to use and therefore reliable, and is light weight. It can lob a multitude of offensive grenades, including special grapeshot and flechette rounds, developed for jungle warfare, as well as smoke, flares, and gas, up to 400 metres. They are still in use with US Special Forces and have been seen recently in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have been adopted by over 40 nations worldwide and will be around for a long time to come. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
