The M56 submachine gun saw service from 1956 until 1992, but many were used in the civil war during the break up of former Yugoslavia. The M56 is not a clone of the MP 40, as many say. It has been influenced by that design but has marked differences. It is a very reliable design and has good accuracy at ranges out to 200 metres, which is better than most SMGs. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom, and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
