Deactivated British Boer War Lee Metford MKII .303 Rifle in very good, original deactivated condition with bolt shield and volley sights. 1893 Royal Enfield manufacture, with V.R Crown. This example has Royal Horse Guards stamps on the stock. The RHG fought in the Second Boer War (1899-1902), fighting at the Relief of Kimberley and the Battle of Paardeburg. Entering service in 1884, the Lee Metford Rifle was one of the few military bolt actions that were not based on the Mauser action. They most notably served the British Army in South Africa and various other colonial conflicts, until being officially replaced by the Long Lee in 1896, though they were made and issued right on up to the dawn of WWI. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
