Deactivated British L8 7.62mm Belt Fed General Purpose Machine Gun in excellent condition. This is the Armoured Fighting Vehicle version of the L7A2 and can be found in all British tanks, self propelled guns and armoured cars. The GPMG entered service in 1958 and is still in service over fifty years later. It is an exceptional design that has seen competitors come and go (including the ill-conceived LSW, thank God) and was recently adopted as the official machine gun of the US armed forces (M240B), nearly half a century after it first appeared! It is utterly reliable under the severest conditions and powerful and accurate up to three kilometres in the Sustained Fire or mounted role. Even the very fine dust in Afghan does not seem to bother it. It is currently in service with around forty nations and will definitely make it to its hundredth birthday before it disappears completely. Quite simply, a total legend that nothing else can touch. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold a London or Birmingham proof mark and certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K
