Deactivated WW2 German Kar 98 Suppressed Sniper Rifle, 1944 dated, BCD Gustloff-Werke Factory manufacture, with earlier style machined long side rail mount and scope rings and fitted with the early centre focus DOW coded sniper scope. These scopes were made by the Opticotechna firm in Czechoslovakia, with the rear of the scope marked DOW+. The centre elevation knob is correctly calibrated from 1-8 (100-800) meters and the optics are very good. The suppressor is the Schiessbecher HUB-23 as used famously by Otto Skorzeny’s Elite SS Kommandos when they rescued Mussolini from the British. German army snipers received Kar 98 rifles, which were specially selected for being exceptionally accurate during factory tests. These were fitted with telescopic sights and issued as sniper rifles. These sniper rifles had an effective range up to 1000 meters when used by a skilled sniper. Of all the wartime issue sniper rifles the Mausers were considered to be the most accurate. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
