Deactivated Berthier Mle 16 Carbine SN. 5365 *

Availability: In stock

Quick Overview

Deactivated Berthier Mle 16 8mm Carbine, in good, original condition with moving bolt and dry fires. The rear sight adjuster and action bolt (does not affect operation) are missing, hence price. The Berthier Mle 16 Carbine was introduced in 1916 and was a shorter version of the Mle 1892 standard issue rifle. Many early examples were converted from MLE 1892 Rifles before full production could be ramped up. It also adopted a five round, charger loaded magazine that was much popular with the troops issued it. They soldiered on with the French army and the French Foreign Legion until the end of WWII, and were often seen in the hands of French police well into the 1960s. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
