Deactivated Smith and Wesson Triple Lock SN. 2650 *

Availability: In stock

Quick Overview

Deactivated Very Rare Smith and Wesson Triple Lock .455 Calibre Revolver in good condition, with British military stamp. The Triple lock, officially the Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 1st Model 'New Century', is considered by many, including handgun enthusiast and expert Elmer Keith, to be the finest revolver ever made. Its name refers to its extra (third) locking lug on the cylinder crane. This extra locking mechanism was deemed necessary due to the increased power of the .44 Special cartridge, which was first chambered in the Triple Lock. They were only made between 1908 and 1915, as the British and Canadians, who purchased them in .455 Eley Calibre, deemed the extra lock unnecessary, as they worried about dirt fowling the mechanism. Only 5000 Triple Locks were supplied to the British before the design changed to the M1917 model. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
