.
Deactivated Rare Simpson & Co. Suhl Luger P08 9mm Pistol with full matching numbers, including the magazine. Full working action and removable magazine in good overall condition, with no rust or pitting. It has the triple 6 proof stamp, which although a random process, earns it the name `Devil’s Luger’ by some collectors. It is also a rare no date variant. The gun is completely correct and all the parts are correctly Simson proofed. We have only ever had one of these before. Due to the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, Simson and son was the only company authorized to produce and overhaul arms for the Wiemar era German army. They started to manufacture Lugers in 1925 using equipment obtained from the old Erfurt arsenal. They are rare today because the need for new equipment in the Wiemar era was not large, and Simson only made 12,000. The company was nationalized in 1933 when the Nazis came to power. The Luger has been around for over a century now and they are still being made. It is probably the most easily recognised pistol in the world and even my granny could recognise one. They are one of the easiest pistols to shoot, as their natural pointability really does allow you aim instinctively and they are, by design, inherently accurate as well. An iconic classic, that every serious collector should have at least one of in their collection. Simpson Lugers are extremely rare! All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
