Deactivated De Lisle Carbine SN. 0399 *

Availability: In stock

Quick Overview

Deactivated De Lisle .45 ACP Carbine in excellent condition. The De Lilse Carbine was first issued in 1943 to British Commandos, Naval Special Forces units and Special Operations Executive (SOE) operatives, as well as limited use by American Jedburgh Teams. It is cited as one of the quietest suppressed weapons ever made and could deliver a .45 calibre bullet accurately, out to effective ranges of 200 metres. The inventor, William Godfray, convinced the head of Combined Operations to adopt it, after successfully firing it from the roof of his headquarters in London, without anyone in the street below noticing any noise! It stayed in British service officially until the mid 1960s but was used by certain units in Northern Ireland and one was used in the raid on Pebble Island by the SBS and RM Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre during the Falklands War. It also saw limited use in Vietnam by the 5th Special Forces Group and the Australian SAS. A rare find. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
