The Carl Gustav 84mm, or `Charley G’, as it is known, first appeared in 1948 and went into use with over 40 countries worldwide and is still in use with the majority of them, including Britain and the USA. It fires an 84mm HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) round out to 700m for static and 400m for moving targets and is capable of destroying or crippling almost all main battle tanks in use today. It can also fire HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) for use against bunkers, smoke and illumination rounds. In an emergency, it can be operated with just one man and the latest M3 version is a favourite of NATO Special Forces. A modern classic.
