Deactivated Commemorative Matching Serial Numbered (Both guns have the serial number 970WC) Winchester M1894 .44-40 Calibre Rifle and Colt Cavalry 1873 .44-40 Calibre Revolver. Both guns are genuine US manufacture, and are in near mint deactivated condition. Complete with velvet lined, hardwood, lockable case and medallions, serial numbered to the guns The Winchester carbines and rifles are without doubt one of the most recognisable guns in the world and have been in constant production since 1873 until this day. They were redesigned in 1894 to have much stronger actions, to handle the new smokeless powder cartridges. They have been made in hundreds of calibres and variations of barrel length and furniture that you would need a whole book to list them all. The action was refined by John Moses Browning and still works well enough that there will probably be lever actions still rolling off the production lines in another hundred years’ time. The 1873 Peacemaker model was first introduced by Colt in 1873. It has the distinction of having the longest continual production run of any gun in history and has been widely copied all over the world, in every conceivable calibre, barrel length and size. Revolver experts agree that it is one of the best handling wheel guns in the world and is one of the easiest weapons to maintain and shoot instinctively. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
