With W40887 serial number (late 1916 and ordered for the RFC) and British military stamps. In excellent, original deactivated condition. The M1911 served from 1911 until 1926, when it was replaced by the M1911A1. The 1911 type Pistol and its clones have been in service for over a century with various armies around the world. They are still being produced by over twenty manufacturers and the top of the line guns can cost thousands of pounds. It has served the US armed forces in every war, from the trenches of WWI, to the deserts of Iraq and is still the issue weapon of several US Special Forces units, like Delta and MEUSOC.
