Deactivated British FN Minimi PARA 5.56mm Light Machine Gun. Excellent deactivated condition and complete with British Issue Top Cover, with loaded Chamber Indicator, SUSAT Rail and Rear Sight. These are the model in current use with British Forces right now. Full working parts and strippable (apart from barrel). The FN Minimi first appeared in 1974 and was adopted by the US Army in 1982 as a Squad Automatic Weapon. Since then it has been adopted by over thirty countries around the world and is licence produced in seven other nations, including Australia and Canada. It was officially adopted by the British Army in 2003, though it has been in use with UK Special Forces since they started `acquiring’ them from our allies in the mid-1980s. They are capable of firing from a disintegrating link belt feed or from M16 type magazines and have a rate of fire between 750 – 1200 RPM, depending on the gas setting. They are accurate and reliable and have stood up well to the dusty conditions in Iraq and Afghanistan and offer huge firepower support to an infantry squad, where two are issued per squad. They are easy to use and maintain and light enough to be shoulder fired, even by female soldiers. An excellent design that like its big brother, the GPMG, will be around for a very long time to come. Please note: the ammo belt and magazine are not included. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
