Deactivated Rare Boys MKI .55 Calibre Anti Tank Gun in very good, original condition, with broad arrow stamps and matching numbers. The Boys MKI Ant Tank Gun entered service with the British army in 1937 and the .55 inch W MKI round was capable of penetrating an inch thick armoured plate at 100 metres. This was fine against light armoured vehicles and Panzer Is and IIs, but as soon as the heavier armoured fighting vehicles came along the Boys was phased out. It was also used by Commonwealth Forces and the Finnish army against both the Germans and the Russians, and the US Marines, who used it in the Pacific against Japanese bunkers, as well as being bought by China and France. The bolt action receiver and barrel were fixed to a spring loaded chassis system, which went some small way to dampening recoil, along with the massive muzzle break, but the kick was still bone jarring. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
