Deactivated Antique 1858 Revolver SN. 4453 ^
Deactivated Belgian 1858 Type .44 Calibre Black Powder Revolver. Belgian copy of the Remington 1858 model in very good deactivated condition. This Belgian made example was made sometime in the 1860’s. Unfortunately, the previous owner did not know it was classed as an antique and had it deactivated! The Remington 1858 Revolver was a direct competitor to the Colts of the day and is considered by experts to be the hands down better gun. It was stronger and more reliable and also far quicker to reload. They were the preferred pistol in the American Civil War and many southern gun makers copied the Remington’s design, although captured originals were always the preferred choice. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
