Deactivated 1942 Matching Lee Enfield No 4 MKI SN. 9986 ^
Deactivated British 1942 dated Lee Enfield No 4 MKI in excellent overall deactivated condition, with matching numbered bolt and receiver. First issued in 1941 the Lee Enfield number 4 rifle was the pinnacle of the combat bolt action rifle. It ironed out the (minor) problems of the SMLE and in the hands of British and Commonwealth forces it performed better than any other weapon in its class, both in WWII and well into this century. They can still be seen in India, the Gulf states and in Afghanistan and Africa. The Afghan Mujahedeen fighters favoured the Number 4 because they could sit well out of range of the soviet patrols and happily kill them at their leisure! Super tough, very accurate and with double the firepower of any of its rivals, this rifle was simply the best. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly.
