Deactivated M1911 .45 ACP Pistol by Remington Rand in excellent original deactivated condition. 1993 deact, so has the locking ribs in place. Serial number dates it to 1917, when Remington made just over 50,000 for the US Army and Marines for WWI. The M1911 served from 1911 until 1926, when it was replaced by the M1911A1. The 1911 type Pistol and its clones have been in service for over a century with various armies around the world. They are still being produced by over twenty manufacturers and the top of the line guns can cost thousands of pounds. It has served the US armed forces in every war, from the trenches of WWI, to the deserts of Iraq and is still the issue weapon of several US Special Forces units, like Delta and MEUSOC. It is quite simply a legend, and its power and reliability are respected the world over. All deactivated weapons sold by D and B Militaria are deactivated in the United Kingdom and hold London or Birmingham proof marks and a certificate stating that the weapon has been deactivated correctly and is legal within the U.K.
