Antique Brunswick Rifle

.
Antique Brunswick .704 Calibre Rifle in good condition, with strong, solid action and wood and complete with sling. The Brunswick rifle was one of several designs trailed to replace the Baker rifle. Unlike the Baker, the Brunswick rifle used a special round ball with raised ribs that fit into two spiralling grooves in the barrel. Although an odd arrangement, the Brunswick was accurate, very powerful, and the design was generally very rugged and soldier friendly. It was officially adopted in 1838 and served throughout the Empire until the early 1890s, although production ceased in 1885. They were also sold to Belgium and Prussia, and also to both Union and Confederate forces in the American Civil War. A rare gun nowadays. Obsolete Calibre Antique, no licence required.
