.
Antique Tranter Fourth Model .80 Bore Revolver with original rammer and in very good condition, with an excellent bore and action. The serial number is in the mid-15000 range which puts it in the range of the “Pratt Roll” of revolvers in the possession of Lt Julian Pratt’s squad of troopers in Company H of the 18th Virginia Cavalry. Retailer mark of Wilkinson & Son, Pall Mall, London. The Tranter revolver was a double-action cap & ball revolver invented around 1856 by English firearms designer William Tranter (1816–1890). Originally operated with a special dual-trigger mechanism (one to rotate the cylinder and cock the gun, a second to fire it) later models employed a single-trigger mechanism much the same as that found in the contemporary Beaumont–Adams revolver. Obsolete Calibre Antique, no licence required.
