Antique Oakes Flintlock Pistol SN. OFLP

Availability: In stock

£1,495.00

Quick Overview

Antique Early 1800s English .69 Calibre Brass Barrelled Flintlock Pistol by Oakes of London. This the rarer brass barrelled version, which was probably sold for military export for naval service. This has been carried and used in its long life and we wish it could talk! In good, used condition with a crack to the LHS stock, with a solid action. The flintlock mechanism was introduced at the beginning of the 17th century and was in use for over two centuries. Flintlock pistols were used as self-defence weapons and as military arms. Their effective range was short, and they were frequently used alongside a sword or cutlass. The pistols could even be used as clubs themselves. Antique weapon, see terms and conditions.
