Quick Overview

Antique Charleville Model 1777 .69 Calibre Flintlock Musket in good condition, with working action and leather sling. The Charleville muskets were the standard French infantry musket used in the 18th and 19th centuries. They were also exported all over the world, and saw widespread use in the Indian Wars, American War of Independence, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Crimean War. Flintlock is the general term for any firearm based on the flintlock mechanism. The term may also apply to the mechanism itself. Introduced at the beginning of the 17th century, the flintlock rapidly replaced earlier firearm-ignition technologies, such as the Dog Lock, Matchlock and Wheelock mechanisms. It continued to be in common use for over two centuries. Antique, no licence required.
